Alaska Covering Kids & Families Initiative

Grant Overview
Alaska's Covering Kids & Families Initiative, in conjunction with its local projects, the Statewide Coalition, and the State of Alaska Outreach Specialists, will take steps to make parents of eligible children aware of Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program; get their children enrolled in the programs, and help them remain enrolled as long as they are eligible. Strategies include establishing a broad communication initiative to conduct outreach across the state; testing an on-line renewal application; using reminder enhancements; implementing steps to reduce enrollment barriers; maintaining collaborative relationships; and building sustainability and on-going outreach and enrollment assistance at statewide contact points.
